Regular supervision for the internal coach and organisational consultant is critical if their work is to be effective and ethical. It is a practice that is well established in the other practitioner communities who work with groups and is now becoming a norm for professional and executive coaches. We believe supervision is our ethical responsibility towards the clients we work with. Supervision with an external coach/consultant ensures a safe confidential framework is provided and guarantees that the issues and challenges the internal consultant/coach is working with are given the space to be explored where new patterns and themes are identified. This ensures that the coach/consultant as an instrument of change is continually attuned and focused on the objectives and desired outcomes of the coaching relationship with their clients.
